Gravitational Wave Events: Receive Alerts and Explore the Universe
Gravitational Wave Events is an iPhone app that allows both the LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA Community and the general public to receive alerts about Gravitational Wave Events from the LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA Collaboration (LVK). This app utilizes the Open Public Alerts provided by the Gamma-ray Coordinates Network (GCN) through GCN/LVK Notices, ensuring low latency alerts.
With this app, users can select the category of alerts they wish to receive, making it incredibly easy to stay informed about the latest gravitational wave events. The app database is pre-populated with selected Notices and Circulars from previous O1, O2, and O3 events, and it will also download all O4 events and counterparts as they are reported through a GCN Notice. Additionally, an interactive sky map is included, displaying the location of each event.
In addition to the alert system, Gravitational Wave Events also offers a public message exchange bulletin board and a collection of interesting links. These links provide valuable information about gravitational waves and the LIGO and Virgo observatories, allowing users to further explore the fascinating world of gravitational wave astronomy.
